This holiday has been ovewhelming for me. I am struggling with my wife's diagnosis and treatment

Anne Rice

for breast cancer. Yesterday was her first dose of chemotherapy. It will be an interesting faith walk.

I have also been overwhelmed reading Anne Rice's book Christ the Lord:Out of Egypt. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful and moving pieces of historical fiction I have ever read. Rice is so tender and detailed in her treatment of the young Jesus and his family. So many parts of Jewish life come alive and many new understandinds of Christ are revealed.

Perhaps as wonderful as the fiction is the authors' notes. Here Rice describes some of the doctrinal and commentary sources she utilized in her research. Again, overwhelming. Her presonal testimony is provided in the paperback edition.

A bonus occurred in reading this book during advent. Very special.

Paul, am very saddened to hear about your wife. You both must be going thru an aweful lot. I will keep you both in my prayers. Martin.

I will also be in prayer for you and your wife. Lord, bring healing and restoration of body and mind to your child, the one you love, the wife of Paul. Give her and Paul an abundance of Your overwhelming presence; Your strength in weakness. You are mightier than cancer, I ask you to have mercy on your dear saint. Your will be done.

Paul, it's great to see you but I'm sorry to hear of the challenges you and your wife are up against. Thanks for filling us in so we can be praying.

The book seems like a "wow" kind of thing. Thanks for sharing it.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the prayers and encouragement. Here is the best part and something that I have never really experienced before: There is an army of believers praying for our family - An Army! People I don't even know, people who live in places I have never even heard of, people who heard of our struggle through someone else and committed to prayer, people of different denominations with different prayer expressions. This is some serious power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you all.
